@unab84 In twenty years i don't imagine the choice will be between the big E.U. or the evil U.S., the emergent superpowers will more likely China & Brazil & I think you might miss us a little when China sets the standards & your expecting it to be the much kinder, gentler, passivist type alternative to the U.S. barbarians, & if power in the Americas shifts more tword Brazil i don't imagine that's going to make Canada more relevant, but hey good luck with all that! Its strange to hear American ally's argue over who's Americas lapdog or who is in Americas shadow. If Canada is in america's shadow its because America serves as your shield, behind which you sit in the enviable position of relative peace and prosperity in this world without being in the same peril & As for England, the pound is independent of the euro and is far stronger than the dollar, England doesn't need to choose between the U.S. and the E.U. nor does Canada for that matter.

The American economy is a hot mess! please don't use the u.s. as an example, individually even wealthier Americans are deciding to "strategically default" i almost envy Greece, Portugal & Ireland for even having the option to "restructure" somewhat safely.
