Pat Mendes of Average Broz Gymnasium does 182.5 Snatch, following: 150,160,165,170,175,180. To our knowledge, Pat becomes one of only 6 Americans to ever snatch 400, along with being the only junior (under 20). 19 yrs old, bdwt 134 kg.

  • need a spotter!

  • @42MajesticSwag Thanks for my laugh of the day.

  • is it me or pats motto is 'time to rack it?'

  • @kwstas67 that was the 800 vid, this time he said "how'd I do that!?"

  • As always, impressive feats being posted by the Average Bros. I can't tell what kind of straps Pat are using here so I'll ask the question:

Do you prefer the one-piece straps (just a piece of leather/cotton), or the ones that have a sewn loop? Never liked the second one myself, feels like it could latch on if I wanted to drop the weight.

  • @TrueRahf I made my own and gave them to all the lifters here. they are closer to the first ones that you mentioned, but not exactly.

  • @slashrulesslither Quick History lesson for you...

Prior to 1972 there were 3 competition lifts: clean&press;snatch;clean&jerk. They were chosen for 3 very different reasons. The C/P was for 'strong' guys, the 'snatch' was for 'athletic' and the C/J was for a bit of both. The Snatch favored quick, flexible, powerful athletic types, where the Clean& Press was more of a brute strength lift. Whoever did the best in all 3 won the meet. best overall athlete. Bench? LOL.

  • I'm not an expert on Olympic lifts and I would love to try them if I can find a gym which has some bumper plates so I can practise more. But I think what sets Pat Mendes apart from the others is the speed at which he gets the bar into position. He is really explosive.

  • @Ben6988 So do many international Olympic lifters when training.

  • Olympic Gold in 2016??

  • He uses lifting straps -.-

  • that was awesome

  • @42MajesticSwag you can't spot power moves buddy

  • this is fake, those weight are clearly made of cotton candy

  • completely 100% correct sir.when the press was eliminated from competition the bench lost favor with the olympic lifters.powerlifting also branched out to focus on the 3 big lifts.excellent job sir!
