Too little lateral motion on that swing, face got shut coming into the ball. I figure it happens sometimes with Davids swing. Every pro golfer has a swing with risk for certain errors. I think this is Davi's s particular re-occuring error.
His club face is not shut during the take away or at the top, it is actually square pretty much the whole time. There is such a misconception about this, what most people would consider a square position at the top is actually wide open. All he does is set the wrists early so he doesn't have to rotate them back to impact, this is exactly the swing Joe Dante taught in his book Four Magic Moves. Great swing to copy if you struggle with misses to the right.
The Duval type of swing doesn't include very much rotation of clubhead, therefore it's shut on top, and has a late roll-over/swivel at the follow through. This is also the reason he can easilly hit fades if he wan't to.
Yeah LedZ he doesn't look at the ball but who can, lol? I don't think that's the ideal looking at the ball but rather keeping your head down AT impact is the key. It appears as though he's swinging like he did in 1999 however and that's a good thing.

It's Dante's swing, but with a strong grip (better imo)

Duval has the best and most scientificly perfected swing ever. I love it.

i do the same thing. its a subconscious act to try and fix my fade.

@Nightwing690 u have to rotate your body really fast and really hold the club face open all through impact.

He probably does look at the ball, just with his eyes turned.
