"It's simply ''celebration'' for great occasion"
The occasion being the victory of the Republic of Venice over the Turkish army, wich was occupying the island of Corfu until regained by the Venetians in 1716. To celebrate this occasion, Vivaldi composed this oratorium to be performed november of the same year in the Ospedale della Pietà. Some parts of the music remind me strongly of RV 609 "Laudate Jerusalem".

Absolutely glorious music by master Vivaldi! I strongly recommend those who like this particular war oratorio to listen in You Tube Romina Basso's interpretation. It utterly out of thos world.
