You entirely miss the point. A dramatic script is just that ... a script. The interpretation of that script is up to the director, not the writer of the script. The interpretation is valid if it supported by the script ... the script and nothing else. Whether that interpretation agrees with the original intention of the writer is irrelevant.

We were in Dublin for a week last December. Saw this play. Absolutely brilliant. I "visit" the video every few months. Among other things, the play does a great job of answering the question, "How could this have happened?"
