KURDS CLASH WITH TURKISH RIOT POLICE IN ISTAMBUL

Around 200 Kurds clashed with Turkish nationalists in protest at the closure of the leading Kurdish party. Riot police used water cannons to try and gain control after petrol bombs and stones were thrown by protesters in Istambul.
The police separated the groups and dispersed protestors, in what was a third day of violence on the streets. Turkey's highest court ruled to dissolve the pro-Kurdish Democratic Society Party, dealing a blow to government efforts to end decades of conflict in the EU candidate country.
