ZhayTee - Metroid Prime Demo

A pretty nice arrange of the main theme of Metroid (the one played on the title screen of every game).

Finally found out where it comes from.
It's a demo song from US composer ZhayTee (Joseph Toscano) recorded as part of a declined bid to compose the music for the GCN game Metroid Prime.

This is my song. Glad you like it. I wrote it in 2002 back when Retro Studios (the developer of Metroid Prime) was looking for a new musician to score Metroid Prime. Alas, Nintendo stepped in and forced them to use Kenji Yamamoto. I mean, the music he wrote for the game was pretty good, but I would have been pretty thrilled to get the gig. Obviously. :P

@zhaytee Oh, interesting to know Nintendo was behind Kenji Yamamoto and Kouichi Kyuma ending up doing the soundtrack, I didn't know about that - I thought it was just a matter of Retro Studio prefering the works of Yamamoto over yours, actually.

@zhaytee But anyways, yeah, the music for the game is very good (I love the title screen/credits theme on the first Prime game especially), but it would have been great to hear your music in the game nonetheless, IMO. I found this theme very pro - it captured the mood of Metroid very well, and the industrial/futuristic/ambient sounds used in the background sound so close to the ones used on the current game that I actually thought it was an official theme taken out of the soundtrack at first.

Im not believe you made this, When i first heard it, it was on Metroid EU and it was said to be on metroid prime 3 corruption. I was a kid back then and boy was i waiting impatiently to get it, thanks to this theme.

@Meudeujeu I thought it was too! I'm like a metroid fanatic, and video game music is my favorite genre of music. Out of all metroid songs in history (so far), this is my absolute favorite! I even learned it on piano!

Really cool find. It's not from vgmix either, at least from the selection I got years ago back when.
