Lyrics Botany Bay
---
Farewell to old England forever,
Farewell to my rum culls as well,
Farewell to the wellknown Old Bailey
Where I used for to cut such a swell.

Singing too-ral, li-ooral, li-addity,
Singing too-ral, li-ooral, li-ay,
Singing too-ral, li-ooral, li-addity,
And we're bound for Botany Bay.

There's the captain as is our commander,
There's the bosun and all the ship's crew,
There's the first and the secondclass passengers,
Knows what we poor convicts go through.

Singing too-ral, li-ooral, li-addity,
Singing too-ral, li-ooral, li-ay,
Singing too-ral, li-ooral, li-addity,
And we're bound for Botany Bay.

Oh had I the wings of a turtledove,
I'd soar on my pinions so high,
Slap bang to the arms of my Polly love,
And in her sweet presence I'd die.

Singing too-ral, li-ooral, li-addity,
Singing too-ral, li-ooral, li-ay,
Singing too-ral, li-ooral, li-addity,
And we're bound for Botany Bay.

Singing too-ral, li-ooral, li-addity,
Singing too-ral, li-ooral, li-ay,
Singing too-ral, li-ooral, li-addity,
Or you'll find us in Botany Bay.

  • Thank you,what a treat

  • Mirusia Louwerse is not only a beautiful young woman, she is the very best soprano I heard and listened to so far. And, mind you, being 71 years old/young, I heard and listened seriously to quite a few soprano's (starting at the age of 22, so, for some fifty years).

  • Andre is right, I have never heard Botany Bay sung as beautiful as this. Good on you girlfriend of every Aussie music lover.

  • whaaa O.O what an amazing voice and a funny song

  • The music is stunningly beautiful, and this performance in particular is spectacular! I play it again and again; how can I get piano sheet music and lyrics for this special song?

  • I now understand why Andre cried

  • I think I've fallen in love with Mirusia... She's GREAT!
