    Van Heflin won a Best Supporting Actor Oscar for an MGM production called "Johnny Eager" (the stars of the movie were Robert Taylor and Lana Turner).

  • Due to wartime materials restrictions the actors received Oscars made of plaster of Paris. They were replaced with the "real thing" after the war.
