Even a wino in a backstreet would have lived more comfortably. He spend most of the 1960s and 1970s naked and filthy in a blacked out apartment, addicted to codine painkillers, malnourished, driven insane by obsessive phobias about germs, unloved and uncared for, surrounded by parasitic flunkies who only wanted a cut of his fortune

Of all the celebrities, movie stars, public figures .... Howard Hughes has to be one of the most fascinating people. He was a character. He was devilishly good looking, famous, admired, rich, enjoyed a full life despite his oddities. Nobody comes close to being like him. Highly unique man.

I think that he died in a plane, suits Hughes so well. He died in one of the machines he loved so much.
