did they trade shirts?

Yeah, but the slurs are perfectly placed, at the same place in each beat. That's just smart playing!

For 20th century guitar concerti, I definitely prefer the Ponce and Tedesco to anything Rodrigo wrote.

I cant believe John put so many slurs in the big scale!

I Don't think so : with this mastery level , every piece is played hundreds times , every move have to be perfect and replaced , this is a great interpretation , poupee58 prefers another and it's just a question of taste : it's his right , that's all ^^

I think that Williams & Bream was playing this piece for first time and may be they wasn't familiarized with it

Yes, I agree. I think he is an important Spanish composer but seems to fall into some overly diatonic+deliberate dissonance cliches. Not the calibre of De Falla or Albeniz for that matter although the Aranuez is THE guitar work of the century with Brittan's Nocturnal. I do love the Invacation and dance also.
wonderful music

I'm starting to like the Fantasia por un Gentil Hombre more than Concerto de Orange Juice now. I know it's based on Sanz music but I guess I'm a bit weary of CdA.
This piece is far from my fav Rodrigo, but some of his other solo guitar pieces are right up there with anyone else imho.
