KIPP STEP 2010

In July of 2010, 44 of the brightest middle school students from all over the country spent 3 incredible weeks learning and growing together at Deerfield Academy in Deerfield, MA. These slides are a glimpse into the magic of those weeks.

Why are they all black? Shouldn't the class reflect the national population? I guess my kid is not welcome at Deerfield.

@finnadroid First of all, they are not all black. Second of all, these aren't kids who go to Deerfield-- they are students between their 7th and 8th grade years who came from KIPP schools for a summer program held at Deerfield. And they ARE representative of the students who attend KIPP schools across the country. KIPP stands for Knowledge Is Power Program, and it's a charter school network serving students in underserved communities.
