How to Shadow Priest (pre 3.3)

I wanted to do something for our Holy and Disc Priests in the guild who are trying to get the hang of playing as Shadow.... There is no script here... Just what I could think of off the top of my head. So there may be a few things I didn't explain well. But generally what you need to know is here.

so does having more haste give you faster damage on your dots?

@metalMARCUS1 Yes.  800 Haste is considered to be the cap. That doesn't mean you wont gain any benefit from having more, just that it is not as powerful, point for point, as it was up to 800.

But the talent 2nd from bottom Twisted Faith makes it so your SWP makes your mind blast do more damage so if u use SWP before mind blast overall u do more dmg

@BananaCharma Yea, I see where you're coming from, but theres a difference in your first Mind Blast not getting a bonus, and SWP being up the entire fight without its buff, or using a GCD casting it again. In the time of the GCD casting SWP again, you can get off a tick of Mind Flay, which will be much more damage than what you possibly gained from the first Mind Blast being buffed with Twisted Faith.

@TheGmodExpert : Well you certainly can, but there is a catch. SWP wont be updated with the new stacks of Shadow Weaving you gain from casting the other spells. So, you would really only have SWP ticking at maybe +2% damage, while if you waited until five weaves were up, it would be ticking at +10% more damage. That's the whole reason for waiting on SWP, and there are other benefits too, like moonkin buffs and other things on the boss that will boost SWP damage for the rest of the fight.
