THE AIM: build a working radar which displays direction and range of any object it picks up. Without the use of expression gates or CPU chips, and all the programming malarky that goes along with them.

The radar displays its maximum range with the blue outline, the green dot represents the radar itself, and finally the red dots are objects picked up by the radar. The red ring which fades is simply the default i have set up to show no targets in the radars range (currently set to 5000).

The radar is not 100% fool proof, it has to have a decent sized object to contact with e.g a person facing it. The radar can pick up people sideways on but it doesn't always. Also this is my first version and so there are quite a few improvements i am looking to make. For instance the current version is not very good at picking up moving targets, and also i would like to make a screen which displays a 2d image of what the hologram is showing allowing the radar to be used in vehicles etc.

  • @phij92 Is it possible to make it so the red dots will stay and sorta map out the terrain, and when the radar dectects that it isnt there on the next rotation it will disappear? Or would that require cpu chips and e2?

  • @legoman5188 yes this is possible and doesn't require any cpu chips or e2. The way to achieve your goal is to play around with the fade rate of the red holo emitter. The lower the value the longer the red dots stay for... making the red dots last long enough for one full spin would do what you are wanting. Also to detect terrain you would have to make sure that the ranger was set to hit world.

  • @Littlepetslinki to increase the range simply change the maximum distance of the ranger... but take note that with a range of 5000 and a divider of 100, the radar gives a 1:100 picture to actual distance ratio. So if the picture shows something at the outer edge i.e 50, the object is actually 5000 units away. Keeping a ratio like this can be useful if you want the radar picture to reamin relative.

  • pretty cool actually but i don't have any use for it because it's built out of standard props. also, what's the range for detection?

  • @NuclearArbitor The range for detection is whatever you set the rangers maximum distance at (in this case 5000) but the radar picture is scaled down to 1/100.

  • @djdj165 it should show the hologram, are you sure you have wiremod installed correctly? if you have then i have no idea sorry... possibly a bug?

  • @nickswebshow2 try improving the resolution, i.e. make the radar spin slower or use a target finder... hope this helps :)

  • wtf... why doesn't the hologram show. I pressed the button but nothing happend. On't the radar dish works.
