I am a Full-time MA student currently studying in the UK and living at the University of Westminster housing, Harrow campus. At the beginning of my third and final term of school and after paying my last installment for rent, the housing department informed me that they are going to tear out my kitchen to refurbish leaving me with no means to cook or clean other than going to another flat to do so. The other flat is one story above mine and is currently housing 5 to 6 other people (you will see how difficult this can be from the video).

Instead of reimbursing money back to me for the loss of a kitchen facility they simply decided that a £40.00 credit back to my deposit was efficient....

So, I basically paid full price for a flat that has no kitchen.

  • You had a rough time of it as well? It was insane, but I made it through! I graduated and moved back to the states. I am now a professor at a local university.

  • This must be one of the worst universities in the UK. The accommodation is terrible - on he Harrow campus which is nowehere near London, but is in the unfashionable city of Watford. The place makes a lot of money as an (ultra cheap) holiday camp for kids from Europe (mainly Italy) where they have English classes and day trips to London (you can just about get to London and back in a day). In term time hey do all the building work, students are just there because there's no tourists in winter.

  • Apparently they are offering me with a place for MA.

Would you recommend this uni? i've heard many things.

  • I'm for the states and was looking at this university, but because of this I'm a tad afraid of something like this happening to me. Do you know how it is for any other students from the states who went there at the same time?

  • As far as London views go, I think your view rates right up there, I mean I love the view, and the circumstances offer you an opportunity to go raw vegan, which seems to be the optimal diet there is...

  • Some scary memories there [was in Halls Sept 2000-June 2001], - sorry to see your kitchen was gutted, =P. At least I never had to go upstairs to use the kitchen. =P Hope you got your MA stuff done okay. ^_^
