The plastic compound has changed several times already. The current units seem to be working very well and we are finding almost none break. The most common reason by far for these breaking are a twisting motion during install/removal. I've personally installed and removed 100's of these with no breaking, however as soon as I twist the unit it is very likely it will break. What you may want to do is buy from a first level supplier so you are getting the newest product compounds.

These were very difficult to have manufactured correctly. It took dozens of plastic compounds, changes in angles and designs to have this work so well. You have to figure the development and patent costs and divide it by the number sold. This adds to the cost of the product quickly.

Mine worked great until it broke at the end of my first ride. I followed the instructions exactly as described and was very careful when removing it from the handlebar, so I'm convinced that the unit I received was defective from the start. Despite numerous emails, the Canadian distributor refused to replace it (they said it was my fault). $38.70 (product, shipping and tax) for two pieces of useless plastic. Buyer beware...

We make it VERY clear on our website that we will not be replacing these.

"Disclaimer: This is a plastic product and will break if you open it too wide, or are too rough with it. BE GENTLE, as we will not be replacing these items."

That being said we sell hundreds of these with only a few reports a year of breakage. You can buy 4-5 of these for the price of other throttle control items (Kaoko, Throttle Mister, etc). We use these everyday on our own bikes and they break if you open it too wide!

I used one of these on my KLR650 on an 8,000km trip across Labrador and Newfoundland. I used it for the 401 and Transcanada sections. It was brillant, requiring adjustment now and then, but it was simply a push with my finger to readjust it. It stays in my tank bag for any long distance highway stretches now, along with my crampbuster.

I have tried a couple in the past and they break/split after a short period. Has the composition of the plastic changed that will not become brittle after several months. Other than that, the device works like a dream! Will buy another, just wish they lasted longer, am I doing something wrong?
