Queen Metroid

The twelfth (actual) boss in Metroid: Other M.

Big momma Metroid is back and in 3-D FUCK YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was so surprised to see her that I narrowly missed dodging the first ram she did.

At the beginning of the epic battle, the Queen will be released by the panicking Madeline Bergman, and it will spawn Metroids out of its back to help it. METROID II VETERANS PAY ATTENTION. The battle is NOT fought like it used to be. She doesn't just extend her neck (except in concept art) or fire shrapnel. No.

You kill the Metroids like you always do, they fight you like they always do. The Queen seems to have lost some weight because she can make a harmless earthquake to free them. Once you kill six of them she roars, grows some crystals on her head and neck and starts to breath fire on you. You target the crystals AND AVOID THE FIREBREATH. The cutscene shows Samus dodging, you CAN'T do that in gameplay. Jump or run like hell.

She'll grow more crystals during the next cutscene, and then the ship announcer will say that we're approaching Galactic Federation orbit in about 30 seconds. Samus failed one of her last mission orders from Adam. Or had she? After thinking of him and Anthony, she concentrates and prepares to fight again. Then the ship's brakes turn off and she falls on the floor. "Warning, emergency brakes engaged, brace for impact." Yeah. She will be impacted if the Queen lands on her. She doesn't though.

Samus gets up and targets the Queen's stomach. It's quite funny to see her on her side trying to clumsily get up. It's even funnier to see her like that when being shot. She gets up and is about to fire a breath blast. Don't wait, target her mouth and grapple in. Metroid II fans, NOW you step into familiar territory. You must perform the secret method of killing the Queen from Metroid II to ultimately finish her off. Just be forewarned, normal bombs don't work. Now think, what is the last upgrade that you haven't been authorized to use yet, or you authorized yourself? What is one of the Morph Ball upgrades you used at the beginning in the training sequence? You must use it as Samus' very life depends on it.

Btw I love Samus' expression before the Queen's foot makes contact with the egg shell. It's like "Goddammit, again?!"
