Pamela Robertson-Pearce filmed this reading in New York on 11 September 2008. Deborah Garrison worked on the editorial staff of The New Yorker for 15 years, and is now the poetry editor at Alfred A. Knopf and a senior editor at Pantheon. She writes about family in a world more exciting and more frightening than ever before. Her recent poems explores many facets of motherhood - ambivalence, trepidation and joy - coming to terms with the seismic shift in her outlook and in the world around her. She confronts her post-9/11 fears as she commutes daily from New Jersey into New York City, continuing to seek passion in her marriage and wrestling with her feelings about faith and the mysterious gift of happiness. The first poem in the film is 'Goodbye, New York', a celebration of the Big Apple with the subtitle 'song from the wrong side of the Hudson'. Then 'I Saw You Walking' is a poem of witness from 9/11, followed by 'September Poem', written a year later, after the birth of a child, on 11 September 2002. Lastly, in 'Into the Lincoln Tunnel', she describes how the daily commute is still shadowed by thoughts of what happened in New York on 9/11. Pamela Robertson-Pearce has been filming poets reading their work for Bloodaxe's archive, website and DVD-books. Her first DVD-book, IN PERSON (edited by Neil Astley), was published by Bloodaxe in 2008, including films of 30 poets with an anthology containing all the poems read on the films:
