Gigantisches Licht-Kunst-Projekt: Der Lichtkünstler James Turrell plant seit den 1970er Jahren in einem erloschenen Vulkan in der Wüste von Arizona ein präzise berechnetes System von unterirdischen Kammern, Verbindungsgängen und markanten Aussichtspunkten, das dem Betrachter ermöglichen soll, zu verschiedenen Zeiten das nächtliche Licht der Sterne, aber auch das Licht der Sonne und des Mondes gezielt zu erleben. Turrell plant den Krater im Jahr 2011 für das Publikum zugänglich zu machen.
