Carbon Offset Programs:Travel Carbon Neutral-Travel Video Alert
Have a good trip...and don't worry that your flight is spewing tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. Carbon Offset programs are new and making it possible to travel with no carbon footprint. Travel Carbon neutral.
This is Kaleel Sakakeeny with your Travel Video Alert
More people are flying than ever and the C02 emitted by planes at high altitudes does more harm to the atmosphere than emission from cars, so no one can travel guilt free these days?
However, Carbon Offset programs let travelers offset the gas they pass
The programs offered on the web and by travel giants like Orbitz and Travelocity calculate how much C02 you're responsible for while you're flying the friendly skies
They give you a dollar figure to pay to offset your carbon footprint... and they'll plant a tree with the money or back a wind power program
My trip from Boston to San Francisco cost me 7 bucks to offset my ton of Carbon Dioxide, and the company plants a Douglass Fir Tree to make the air a little cleaner.
Does it help or just feel good?
It takes a 50 years for the tree to grow so I'd rather see the airlines fly more fuel efficient planes, use less congested airports...but mostly I' d like to see us stop buying big cars burgers and houses.

Basic science will tell you that carbon Co2 is what plants and trees breath. They take in the Co2 and recycle it as oxygen for us to breath.
Bill Gates wants to reduce global Co2 emissions to ZERO. So what are the plants and trees supposed to breath?
And if the trees cant make oxygen, what do we breath ? ? ?

@HumanSayNo not sure I know how to address this. So reducing C02 is wrong??

Well if reducing Co2 emissions to ZERO means there wont be any oxygen in the air, then I think there may be a slight conflict of interests to say the least. I mean what would be the point of killing everything on the planet to save the planet, like what was hinted at in the movie The Day The Earth Stood Still? So the big lump of space rock 3rd from the sun will have no life on it, but it will be a nice moderate temperature.
I think the scientists are getting into Science Fiction myself !

@HumanSayNo So, your suggestion is? Your balanced approach would be?

@travelvideo well I was kinda hoping you could tell me.

@HumanSayNo Nice! We believe absolutely in reducing carbon emissions and a clean energy economy and society. The idea of reducing C02 to Zero is a concept we never seriously entertained both because we doubt its possibility and because I really never thought about zero C02. Sorry :)
