Yatrides was using into his artwork since 1951 the symbolism of monoliths and slabs as a relation between humanity and a supernatural strengh as god. We retrieve this symbolism in a lot of Yatrides canvas and drawings. Yatrides was exposed since 1959 in the great galleries in Chicago. Arthur Clarke and Stanley Kubrick have visited this galery among others looking for ideas for their film 2001 a space odyssey and it there is a lot of common points between the two works.

Maybe Kubrik was inspired by Yatridès, maybe not. Only the shallowest and most insecure artists are concerned with securing credit. Seems to me that Yatridès (and his dealer, Christophe Odin) are really going out of their way to assert a completely unsubstantiated relationship with the 2001 film. Then their good friend Bourmeyster writes a book asserting Picasso to be a disappointing amateur compared to Yatridès? What a petty attempt. Just paint, and stop worrying about fame & public opinion.

This is a theory about this ration, in the different scenes of the movie, this ratio is not always the same.

For example when Bowman dies in front of the monolith, the ratio is around 81 x 169 = 0.54 when 4/9 = 0.44

Hmmm.... Kubrick's monolith is based on 1x4x9.
