Here's a swing-era song from Johnny Noble celebrating the ubiquitous red flower that is now everywhere in Hawai'i. I'm playing it the key of A on an electric guitar.

  • I simplified the chord changes because I'm not very well versed in jazz chord changes. I play majors, minors and a few major 7th chords. In this song I play I, I maj7, IV, IVm, IIm and a V chord.

The other challenging is finding the tune amid the maj7 chords. It took a long time to figure out that the opening note is a 6th.

  • Good work, Jesse.

This tune is really tough for me because of the complicated chord changes. You made it look easy. You don't hear this one very often, but Johnny Noble said this was the song he most wanted to be remembered for. Thanks for putting it up.
