this song reminds me of my father who died when he let beause of addiction and then died the day befoe my 7th birthday, while im diagnosed with clinical depression. all i have is my boydriend hes the only thing to help me thru it. i just pray to god i dont hurt him for letting him see me like this he says i dont but ik he loes me and hes trying to hold it together for me</3

@aaronaustin31 this song was in the Evanescence EP as well, even before the sound asleep EP. This latter EP, on the other hand, includes a wonderful shorter version with syntesizers.
"Understanding" is, if I'm not misinformed, the second song ever composed by Ev, straight after "Solitude", and was written by Ben Moody.
