I work there. This is from the building that use to be the repro graphics building. After Katrina it was used as the Fire Dept. This is the building you can see as you drive down canty street.
-
yea this is where the Cole was built & rebuilt, but it was on the west bank.
-
I believe that's the shipyard where the USS Cole underwent repairs.
-
I was a member of that crew. I suspect you were also. We could have got underway but think of how much money that shipyard would have lost once it was determined we couldn't return. No one knew how bad it would be, but I think politics kept us on the pier before and after, and to hell with the crew. That was the worst year of my Navy career.
-
My dad use to work there along with my grandpa and my two uncles that still work there for so many years !!!
-
remember...the shipyard workers went home...the crew of the USS San Antonio rode out the storm onboard the ship.
-
my grandma works there

I just asked my dad, who has been working at Ingalls 31 years, & he said that its East Bank. Which is on the other side of P-goula River from the rest of Shipyard. Yes they let people go home for Katrina. They're not that stupid. Since this is East Bank there were homes near it, so people could have easily gone there during the storm.
Man,did they not let you go home during Katrina?

I think it was shot from the guard tower near gate 1, but I'm not sure.
