'Adventure Island' was a co-production of the ABC and Godfrey Productions from 1967-72. As a tribute to producer Godfrey Philipp who died aged 74 in April, 2011, here are some out-takes from the program's last day of filming, which shows what the production would have been like had it been filmed in colour. Here you will see various cast members and crew, including Liz Harris. (Liza), Brian Crossley (Mrs Flower Potts), Jack Manuel (Percy Panda), Robert Essex (Miser Meanie), Ernie Bourne (Fester Fumble), Peter Homewood (Giggles Goblin), John-Michael Howson (Clown), Sue Donovan, plus Godfrey in the control room. Leonard Teale (Harris' husband) and Colin McEwan (the former Miser Meanie) also pop in to the land of Diddley-Dum-Diddley....'We'll Be Thinking of You' (the Friday closing song) and 'We Can Count on You' (Mon-Thurs) accompany the footage. Both songs were composed by Bruce Rowland & John-Michael Howson.

  • That is beautiful. I'm also sad to hear of Godfrey's passing. There was a clip interviewing them all on this set up a while ago but I think it was taken down. A very important part of my childhood.

  • A marvelous souvenir - thanks for posting. I'm sorry to hear of Godfrey's passing. He was a hugely gifted director - innovative and creative - way ahead of the field and much respected by colleagues and artists - He also directed for ABC TV 3 series of Sounds Like Us - a poppy variety show starring singer, Jeff Phillips - weekly guests and a group of resident dancers (inc. me) choreographed by Jack Manuel (Adventure Island's Percy Panda).

  • I almost went back to 1972 which would be a good thing except for no having a computer.

Thanks for posting and may you and the family have a very Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year. Cheers Owen

  • A great piece of footage. Thanks for keeping the spirit of this wonderful show alive D!
