The great Elio Pace and his brilliant band with a powerful and inspirational version of Elvis Presley's 'If I Can Dream' live on 'Weekend Wogan' BBC Radio 2 on Sunday, August 22nd 2010.

What a choice of song to close the 2nd series of Weekend Wogan and beautifully and honestly delivered by Elio. Just look closely at the end, when Elio applauds the band and you can see what doing this song meant to him and his heavenward mouthing of "Elvis Presley" is all the confirmation you need. His band's performance was faultless.

It maybe a coincidence that Elio Pace and Elvis Presley share the same initials but it can't be a coincidence that Elio ended up taking part in Radio 2's Elvis Forever concert in London's Hyde Park, after this exceptional performance of 'If I Can Dream'. (Apparently, Elio was asked to do the Elvis concert only 3 days after this Weekend Wogan show. Good on you, BBC)

Very few singers (in my opinion) do Elvis justice and Elio is most certainly one of them. An obvious fan (judging by the amount of Elvis he choses to do on the show) Elio never falls into the trap of trying to sound like Elvis. Instead, he makes the song his own but always with a respectful nod to the King.

Another example of this was Elio's performance of 'Such A Night' at Elvis Forever on Sunday, September 12th 2010, which was simply phenomenal. Away from his piano and wooing the 20,000-strong crowd, Elio showed what a classy and consummate pro he is and was by far, one of the highlights of the broadcast. You can watch two different versions of Elio's performance here:
