  • Cuevas boxing ability was average, his defence non-existant, but his punching power was the best p4p of all time. No man broke more opponents bones, not duran, not shavers, not tyson.

  • Cuevas was stiff, awkward, completely lacking in defensive skills, and ponderous but, there were few who could punch like him. He kayoed technically better fighters like Angel(Cholo)Espada(3)times, Pete Ranzany, Harold Weston Jr., Clyde Gray, Billy Backus, n outpointed Randy Shields. He did'nt enjoy the popularity or network exposure of Palomino due to being a Mexican national but he was adored by them even after the losses to Hearns and Duran.

  • If you didn't have anything to keep Cuevas off of you he was devastating

  • @punchpringle1 More than Dempsey?

  • @lizardman77 because there was no need for a rematch, Hearns almost decapitated Cuevas with his right cross, Cuevas never dealt with anybody of Hearns caliber before, blinding speed and crushing power, plus i think Cuevas fought scared. Styles make fights, ... and Pipino does'nt match up well with Hearns.

  • @MultiRocketman007

i dont think cuevas was nearly unconcious, apparently he was just very impressed by ayala , who turned out to be a massive waste of potential

  • A lot of people only know Cuevas from losing to Hearns and Duran, but he was a very durable champion with very heavy fists in both hands. He seemed to hit hard with every single punch from every angle and he beat down a lot of opponents.

  • Poor Pete.

  • cuevas ha sido el peor boxeador latino y d la historia

  • @emildon1 when he lost with hearns, Thomas Herans was a full middleweight boxer, and Cuevas was Welter weight, was not an even fight back then. However you are right we stil adore him because he was one of the first Mexican boxers who make a lot of money and keep it, he is still a wealthy bussiness men.

  • Que partida de madre le dio Cuevas a Ranzany

  • @marcxopoco If you have to resort to insults in order to get your "point" across, we can discontinue this conversation now.
