I used to doubt that Lennon's murder was a conspiracy, because I simply thought there was no proof. But then I found out more about the doorman at the Dakota building that day-----a Cuban exile who'd worked with the CIA during their Bay of Pigs scheming. Also, the more you learn about Mark David Chapman, the less it seems like he was obsessed with Lennon----Chapman's favorite artist was Todd Rundgren! Crime scene details don't match Chapman being the gunman...

@dofphish Well, JL's murder could have been a right-wing conspiracy, but if so they covered up all the trails of conclusive proof leading back to them so well, it is impossible to establish proof of that. But, still, it doesn't matter if it can be proven or not: we do know enough not to trust any single one of those SOBs as far as we could throw 'em, and given that they are overweight to a man, THAT a pitiful distance. As for their getting away with it, Instant Karma will get them.

Thanks for this post. I looked at last year, and failed to post my thanks, as it was my birthday as well, and my beloved Dad died on that day, making it a day I wanted to forget. This is such an incredibly inspired song, and though I hate it that John is no longer with us, still I am grateful for every moment of his precious life, especially those parts of it that he was willing to share with us. I loved him so much...and this song, to me, is quintessential John Lennon.
