Because we are drunkards (see a previous comment for verification) this will undoubtedly become a series. In fact, I believe we plan on doing the next one on the American amber/red style. Cherry will no doubt coerce me into doing one on the German Hefeweizen, while one day I will force her to drink pint after thick chocolatey pint of Irish Stout.

Ah, but as good as Tesco's lager is, relative to its cheapness, it is indeed a lager and not an ale. The difference lies in the yeast. Lagers use a yeast that ferments at a much colder temperature (usually around 40 degrees) than most ales (often around 70-75 degrees). Lager yeast sits on the bottom of the fermenter and ale yeast rises to the top. For more riveting information such as that, stick around for episode two!

As well as being ah-dorable and a drunkard, might I add that Cherry is also a dirty whore.
Why a Pogues song at the begining? They're Irish not English. Have you tried Spitfire ale? It's astonishingly good.

Thank you! I've been waiting for someone to point out the Pogues-not-English thing! Answer: the beginning part with the song was meant as a general sort of intro for the beer series...the series that never was.

If there wasn't any English ale in the world, I'd kill myself.
