@quadfuland Well, actually I think it sounds fantastic. So maybe I should just leave it alone...thank you

Help me save me from myself....I own a Gyro SE with a Rega tonearm and a wooden grado cartridge. I am running it through a custom made pre-amp and a dynaco ST-70 amp. Then to some vintage altec lansing 890 bolero's. To me it sounds great but I know that it has to be able to sound better. I am just not sure where to start my upgrades on this....

From your description, you should not miss anything on your system.
What is missing to the sound you hear, do you think?

Of course it is.
But we must replace the pulley on the engine and mount a cartridge for 78's groove.

I honestly do not think that your speakers are doing justice to the rest of the gear imho. A lack of deep bass and musicality is what I'm hearing. I do suspect that the SME arm is part of the reason for lack of musicality. Perhaps it is just the video recording and it sounds better in real life, hard to really tell.

You are very attentive and what a critic does you credit.
In fact, the speakers were second best to temporarily replace (repair) my dear QUAD ESL 63, who returned on time are now in place, and with them the deep bass that was missing (not punched in the stomach but simply low frequencies)!
Even the camera, as you noted, has contributed to poor plant performance hi-fi.
