Want to see what it's like in Japan?
(Click the "Watch in high quality" link below the video!)

I just came back from my honeymoon and spent part of it in Tokyo. This is a 20min video showing the sights and sounds (split into two parts). I also surprised my wife and stayed a night at the Park Hyatt Tokyo, which may interest Lost in Translation fans.

We stayed mainly in Ueno, and visited the surrounding districts such as Asakusa, Shibuya, Shinjuku. Then we went up to Nikko (2 1/2 hours north of Tokyo) and stayed for 3 days.

If you're a fan of Japan (and Lost in Translation) and have never been, then I'm sure you'll enjoy these two clips!

  • Hi Prizm4, this is a fantastic video and it brought back so many memories of when I was in Japan last year. Can't wait to return.

Just wanted to check the name of the track at the very beginning of Part 2 - you listed it as A State of Mind (documentary). Is this the film about the two North Korean school girls? Do you have any more details of the track as I'm not sure I can get hold of it in the UK. Thanks.

  • @louispotonias Hi, thanks for watching! Check your messages for more info on that track.

  • So how much did those hotel rooms cost (in yen and US dollars)? and cool video by the way. :)

  • @meika1016 The hotel rooms we stayed in generally cost between 7500-12,000 yen, which in US dollars would probably be $70-110. We didn't spend a lot of time at the hotel, so couldn't justify spending more. Park Hyatt was just a treat for one night and cost 5x as much.

  • Good video I hope I go someday. What do you people mean by "Lost in Translation"? Like going to another country without knowing the language they speak?

  • Hi BeKoed - Lost in Translation is a movie with Bill Murray and Scarlett Johansson. If you liked my video, you'll probably enjoy the movie.

Oh, and with regards to your other comment, don't wait until you're fluent in Japanese before you go to Japan. Just go whenever you have the means, you won't regret it.
