John Wesley Culp left home in Gettysburg to settle in Shepherdstown,then-Virginia, only to be killed in 1863 at - of all places - at Culp's Hill on his family farm. Then there is the mystery of the letter to Jennie Wade that he failed to deliver. She was the only civilian fatality of some 55,000 casualties at the three-day battle in Gettysburg. • Many thanks for this splendid video !

  • My Grandmother's side of the family married into the Culp family. My Great Uncle Walter Lamberson, 149th Pa. Inf. Vol. was wounded on 1 July 1863 at Gettysburg. It is unknown if both of my kinsmen faced each other on that day?

  • One of the most interesting anecdotes of the war to be sure.
