@LordGeorgeRodney No, he didn't. He didn't want Uk to be power anymore. The biggest mistake was Suez war, because it covered up Hungarian uprising that happenned in parallel. If there were no stupid war in Suez, the West could have intervene for the sake of Hungarians.

The Suez Crisis in a broader perspective is the US surrendering to USSR demands therefore forcing UK & France to withdraw by threatening devaluation of the pound & franc etc...
The odd thing is Eisenhower took time to realise this
then it was a big he face palm..
He said it was the worst foreign policy mistake he ever made.
