Science Fiction Theatre was a syndicated science fiction anthology series. It was produced in the United States by Ivan Tors and Maurice Ziv.
Hosted by Truman Bradley, a 1940s film actor and former war correspondent, each episode introduced stories which had an extrapolated scientific, or pseudo-scientific emphasis based on actual scientific data available in the 1950s. The program concentrated on such concepts as space flight, frozen dinosaurs, robots, telepathy, flying saucers and time travel.
It ran from 1955 to 1957, with a total of 78 half hour episodes. It was also known as 'Beyond The Limits' in second run syndication during the 1960s and alternatively as 'Science Fiction Theater'.
"Science Fiction Theatre" was a forerunner of similar shows, such as The Twilight Zone and The Outer Limits.

  • I would love to see more of these, I concur, this was my absolute favorit tv show from the fifties and there's never been anything like it since! Twilight Zone was a late comer, much appreciated, but I still miss SFT!

  • I have more SFT episodes and will upload them

  • I don't know if I'd let truman bradley into my house, shooting tv's, and burning the wall, and no telling what he would try next. Lol, just kidding of course, this was an excellent sunday afternoon show back in the early 60's when it was raining and nothing else to do, it took the boredom away for sure. Thanks for the videos.

  • What a great show this was and still is. I watched this in the 1950's living in Zion Illinois. It really brings back good memories, thanks for posting this.

  • mekrain, thanx for posting but why the colors are... different ?

  • Ah yes,,,, memories of the 50's ,,, how relaxing

  • Yes they are, all 78 episodes from 1955-1957. Complete Collectors Set on 10 DVD's. Do a Google search.

  • Does anyone know if these are for sale on DVD set? If so how much for the series? As mentioned in a previous msg from me, always enjoyed the music---was around 12 when I discovered them--in the early 1960's

  • for me, it was reruns in chicago on tv 44 in the 70's. but dang, the memories of such wonderful 'ziv' tv shows.

  • Have always enjoyed hearing the music to SFT. Remember watching the reruns in the early 60's. Was transmitted from Spokane WA, and I lived in Missoula MT. Used rabbit ears to ge the show and many times could not get a signal.

Wish there was a way to get the entire series on DVD.

  • The question isn't 'Could this have already happened?'

The question is, How many times had this already happened at the time this program was first aired?

  • First time for ever seeing this again, even

    on YouTube!!

I understand that these episodes were originally filmed in COLOR,even though most

TV sets at the time could only show black-

    and-white.

    That "ZIV" Productions...Ivan Tors...and

    Sea Hunt,too! Cheesy sometimes...but VERY

    memorable.

"Science Fiction Theater" was VERY authentic

...and that's why it's still remembered...
