A scene from PBS's "The Andersonville Trial". Broadcast in 1970, this presentation depicted the post-Civil War trial of Captain Henry Wirz, commandant of the infamous prison in Andersonville, GA where 14,000 Union soldiers died. The scene depicted here is the tirade of the Defense Attorey, Oatis Baker (played by Jack Cassidy in one finest roles of his career - a role for which he was nominated for an
Emmy Award). Mr. Baker is outraged at the motives of the U.S. Government and the court which seem orientated at finding Captain Wirz guilty no matter what the evidence may show.
