We've all noticed it - on television and the social web, an increase in politically partisan polemic and cultural isolationism. This "us vs. them" mentality doesn't reflect the best of America, past or present, says author and essayist Marilynne Robinson.

Great! After listening to this intellectual's take on neotribalism, I scroll down to read other peoples' point of view, only to regret it a second later. As always a bunch of self-obsessed idiots wasting their time arguing about whose skin color is better. You're disgusting! Fuck you all.

So basically what she's saying is, the problem with modern Liberalism (as opposed to classical Liberalism), is people are being encouraged not to have personal responsibility and identify as individuals with individual interests (such as affinity)... But to identify as a group based on something superficial like race, gender, sexuality, social class. Instead of being treated as individuals... Everyone is a voter block and they want special programs for their demographic.

I get annoyed with the claim that liberal professors are trying to destroy the United States. I have never had a single professor who tried to force political or religious beliefs on me or anyone else in any of my classes.

I discovered that my affinities/spirituality was amazingly similar to that of my ancestors and others of common heritage. Then I realized that race IS significant. Like any would their family, I have greatest love for and faith in my race. This doesn't mean I submit to their general ideals. Heck no, they're largely destructive these days.
