McCAIN: "All I can tell you is that I'm very proud to have Pastor John Hagee's support. He has support and respect throughout the nation and I continue to appreciate his support and his advocacy for the freedom and independence of the state of Israel, which we're all well-aware that the Iranians, including the Iranian president who has gone to the United Nations to announce his country's intention to 'wipe Israel off the map.'

"I don't know how anybody could be more plain in their words. So I continue to be pleased to have Pastor Hagee's support."

HAGEE: "Our support of Israel has absolutely nothing to do with an end-times prophetic scenario. Our support of Israel is because we feel their cause is just. They are a democracy in the Middle East that deserves the support of America and the Christian people of America.

"I support president--er Senator McCain because I know he has pledged to be a strong defender of Israel and he is solidly pro-life and he has a 24-year track record to support that position."
