Jason is an Anglo Arab. He was a rearer and by the time I was contacted to help him he would only go backwards when mounted. This is a short vid featuring some of the groundwork and also the first time Jason was ridden. (My husband didn't film the bit between Jason walking backwards and then finally walking forwards!)
Once he started walking forwards, he didn't want to stop! Hence the circling at the end.

His 'case study' can be read at http://www.sophieostler.co.uk/

  • where is the problem with the horse?

  • @96katja

Can't people read! Jason would rear and walk backwards when ridden... this vid features the groundwork and the first time I rode him after all of the groundwork (where he walks backwards, and then forwards). It is all the footage I have, Jason's problems were solved almost completely via the groundwork, I apologise if this makes for a dull video of a problem horse.

  • nice work!!

  • Thank you very much! :)

i luv ground work! i use it all the time with my horses

    u did a gr8 job!

  • he's very nice. Ive had horses like that too, with some really rough problem areas.

  • he's so cute!

  • He was a problem horse because.. when I first met him he would rear or walk backwards when mounted.

and Yes, of course he has done all that before! This is a vid of the final sessions of groundwork when I had establised his trust on the ground before I rode him for the first time. In the vid you will see the fist time he was ridden and finally walked forwards!

I'm sorry it isn't more exciting, but it's all the footage I have! If you read the description and case study it will be clearer.
