I'm not sure folks increased the volume of their conversations in this instance, the video cam may have had an auto level setting that created that effect. Although I agree with you, and that IS often the case.
I always feel sorry for bass players. It seems that a beautiful bass solo is the universal cue for people to increase the volume of their conversation...
