Short and sweet, all empires collapse primarily because they are too big to govern. The United States is a Constitutional Federal Republic, where the power WAS set up to reside not in Washington but in the States. The States are much like the EU small republics. It is clear from the treaty of Paris 1783 the King released his sovereign authority to the individual States, not, the United States, as it did not exist as a country. It is a Union of States! End the US Empire before its too late!

@robertiacomacci the us 'empire' will seperate, all it will take will be an economic crash similar to '29. some of the states will fair better than others, california may become independent as will texas, the north eastern states may separate and the southern states may also.

the us will last while the going as good, just as the british empire did, until after ww2 when many thought they would do better alone, i still think they will remain a union though.

Nice video, although some facts are missing:

You didnt mention Russian empire, that was one of the largest in the world (still is) in terms of territory.

Japanese empire, that occupied most parts of South East Asia & pacific in the 1930's+ 1940's was there as well. China too.

I don't think EU can be called empire because its NOT one country, but artificial union thats made of different countries with nothing in common. Most EU citizens are against it, a matter of time untill it collaps.

@adawilkes1 i think u may have mixed this up, the UK was a union of kingdoms, but the empire was seperate, it wasnt one nation. each colony was in turn its own nation, just headed by the british whose country is the UK, if that makes sense?

Germany would be America because Europe would stand aside Germany. Not sure what us Brits would do; we are major allies with the yanks and in the union. Oh and also, USA GDP is 15T right? Their debt is 14T.

@fathinking, Give it up, the Netherlands NEVER controlled a global empire and its control of world trade lasted less than a century, the Brits beat you in everyway in the end including defeating your former colonial masters Spain. We won dominace of the world, our influence is felt everywhere, our language and style of goverment are practiced the world over, as for your naval history, its admirable but again we defeated you and annhilated your navy as a fighting force in the end, keep dreaming!

@adawilkes1, Military power and political influence do not = empire, to be an empire you have to have physical control of the land and peoples, the UK was and remains the worlds greatest and most powerful empire, the USA is itself a product of it and no offence but American culture? its simply a European/British cultural offshoot, European, African, Chinese, Meso American, Indian, these are cultures which are distinct from oneanother, the US is part of Europes cultural identity, not seperate.

Video's like this are pointless, there has only been one truly global empire in history and that was the British Empire, Rome may have helped shape Europe but the UK shaped the world, our language, democracy and the rule of law in the modern sense plus capitalism are the Brits legacy, Spain, France and the Mongols havnt come close to that kind of influence and an American empire has not and will never exist so to speak of it is simply wrong, the USA is a nation state, nothing more.
