Senate Democrats today asked unanimous consent to pass legislation that would give the BP Oil Spill Commission the subpoena power it needs to do its job. "Frankly, it's time we have a vote after so many Republican objections to this commonsense legislation," said Sen. Robert Menendez. "[This bill] asserts that we want to protect those families, taxpayers, not oil company profits."

  • Finally we can see true Americans at work: Senator Bob Menendez (Democrat) New Jersey and Senator Jeanne Shaheen from New Hampshire. Thank you for your faithfulness to our country. Republicans who opposed this should be put on a list for future investigation, there has to be a money trail from BP to these Republicans

  • Republican's don't work for anyone but money interests! $183,000 annual senator pay is not enough, but main street American's don't have millions to give these yahoo's to protect our interests so we get the shaft every time. THANK YOU SO MUCH Senate republicans!!

  • @lurchutube

Hate to break it to you, but BP and other oil companies fund Democrats too.

  • Just goes to prove how both major parties are corrupt to the core. The Reps are corporate fascists, and the Dems are communists/Marxists. Whatever happened to the interests of the hard working American class, the people that no longer exist thanks to both parties eagerly outsourcing our jobs to China.

  • Who stands on the side of America? Dems.

Who stands on the side of the special interests? Republicans.

How tough is this to figure out for yourselves people?

  • This should be played on every news station around the world. This is the reason why American is suffering. The people we vote for are liars and money hungry power snatchers who don't give a damn about the people they are called to serve. Find out who these people are and vote them OUT!!
