I hold the belief that somehow Henry did love his children, that love may have been pushed asside by political needs. Many people say that there is no longer any point in the monarchy. I believe that they have made the greatest sacrifice of all; every emotion must first fit the role and everything must stay politically correct. Henry had to follow these rules he needed a strong country and we cannot judge him by modern morals. Elizabeth was a great queen and she followed these rules aswell.

O.o I love this show.

if he not had to get a fucking son, then Henry and Anne had been together for the hole life!

@thatonecommenter1 Her relationship with Henry was not that great, she said something kind about Katherine Howard after her death and he sent her away in anger. And he told a 13 year old girl to help her brother, that was all, no other kind words, no acknowledgement

I love that Jace is the one here that gets him down. It would be good to see Anne get angry as well, or Katherine Howard, happy with Culpepper

@Michaelangelov I wonder if henry had any guilt left in his mind... I think that he was very strong at lying to himself. His Heir was a sickly boy, far from ready to reign. He ruined Mary's life and he showed Elisabeth only how horrible marriage was in those days. If that man had any guilt left, it was buried deep in the back of his head, because he never showed much mercy.

I don´t like Henry VIII as a real historical person. and so i don´t like him in this show. I guess henry suffered from such damaged genes from preceding generations on both sides of his family.I guess he in the fact was just cruel and bad mixture of his origin, raising up, tense relationship with his own father, loss of his beloved mother. He wasn´t supposed to be king, as we know too. and England would be much more blessed place with Arthur Tudor as King instead of his brother. The End.

@thatonecommenter1 I think it is because she wanted to appear as a princess with dignity, so she went away to be alone and eventually cry at her ease.

@pinkgal888 'Shade' is a very old word for the spirit of a dead person, it goes back to ancient Greece & Rome.

It was so touching when Anne said she was proud of her daughter,
Is it actually possible for him to feel guilty over everything he has done to his wives and children? I mean, this man is literally a wife-killer, only concerned with getting a son for England, and only to end up raising Edward in a totally wrong way. If you ask me the worst thing that could have ever happened to Mary, Elizabeth, and Edward was having him for a father. What do you all think?

@Michaelangelov Being the 'Extra-just-in-case-the-Crown-Prince-died', I suppose Henry was so hell-bent on making a name for himself & to continue the Tudor lineage that he left his children in the hands of greedy ambitious nobles, both English & Spanish. Thx goodness Elizabeth took the reins and showed them who's the boss! ONE MISTRESS HERE AND NO MASTERS!!! =P

I think when he said "what you did to me" he meant that she didn't give him a son, and he feels betrayed and that she made a fool of him with the way she acted. I cannot believe he thought those charges were true.

In 1:07 is Henry saying 'shade' to KOA??? What is that supposed to mean???
pinkgal888 1 year ago 10
@pinkgal888 He thought that his aged mind was playing tricks on him, hence, the word 'shade'... but in truth the Ghost of KoA was created from his guilt that he had been suppressing all his life. Not only with KoA, but also AB and JS... That's why Henry was reflecting abt the value of time in the beginning of the episode. Once lost, it cannot be recovered. And all the things he did cannot be undone.
