I report the truth about how adoption is in America today. It's not 1960 anymore folks, and we have come along way. Adoption is pretty Awesome and I'm saying this from the point of view of a woman who misses her child more than life everyday, but I learned through adoption what true love really is and how a mother will sacrifice anything for her child. I'd die for my baby girl in a second. She is safe and happy andreceiving everything a child deserves i life! I thank God everyday for allowing me to heal and turn something as disgusting as rape around intosomething beautiful. The past is irrelevant when you get to give life to the most perfect angel ever! Still Birth Mom's struggle everyday and cry silently. And it's not going to be that way for much longer. Adoption awareness and changing the negative image of birth mother's in our society is my life goal and in doing so I know (because i was in the shoes) that it will decrease the amount of abortions also. We are blessed if we get to give life, and should not take it for granted. As mother Teresa says, "children are God in disguise"
I hardly ever watch ABC's the View, but today I happened to turn the TV on and catch just a bit of it. The bit that left me quite a bit frustrated too. If they had a way to call into the show during discussions and say your two cents, I would have. I know they don't because I tried! I did send an email though to Bill Geddie, the host (like that will ever reach him..) I was just so frustrated with the conversation, I had to go online and register an account with the view just so I could say my piece (whether it's heard or not, at least I said it)
So one of the day's "hot topics" was discussing Sara Palin's daughter and how she is giving birth at 17 and getting married to her boyfriend so young too. They proceeded to talk about how it was in a way ruining two young lives who aren't prepared yet to have a child...(the boy even blogged about how he didn't want kids ever) All four of their responses to this issue, and of teen pregnancy in general, totally ignored adoption as an option! I mean they discussed this for a while and each time, referred to the only other option in these cases as abortion! Even Elizabeth (who I love) didn't think to mention it. I can't imagine the amount of women at home today who just took a pregnancy test and are now scared to death, that who could of been affected by just one person on the show even mentioning the option of adoption!
I wonder how many lives they could of saved with just a few spoken words! If people talked about how amazing and loving the act of adoption was all the time, how could it not cross every-one's mind as an option to abortion, or raising the child yourself. Whoopi still thinks her daughter, at 15, only had two options with her unplanned pregnancy, and because of this I think that's why she pushed for an abortion over life. It makes me wonder if a lot of pro-choices would change their mid if they were more educated on the availability of adoption.
To the view..in their comment box for Bill Geddie (I wrote in a hurry, and had limit to words):
I am very frustrated with today's episode. They discussed having a baby and raising it as the only option to life at least a dozen times, never once thinking about adoption as an option! I believe the number of abortions would greatly decrease if adoption was given as much mention (or even half) that of abortion. Credit is deserves too! In my opinion, it is a mature decision to provide a loving family with a new life than it is to abort or raise a baby when not prepared FULLY to give all they deserve. Barbara automatically assumed if they 17 year old didn't have raise the baby, the only option was to abort and so did the others. Thank you. I hope someone reads this.

  • I am Not pro-life, pro-adoption or pro-abortion, I am pro- birth control, and pro- not getting pregnant in the first place.

  • married women abort too, not just young single girls

  • If you think "God" cares so much about the loves of the unborn, why doesnt he get rid of miscarriages?

  • @bbsmu Bristol Palin only got crap from the media because her mother promotes abstinence and not teaching kids proper sex education and then her teenage daughter ended up pregnant. Also that she seems to be glorifying teen pregnancy and making it look easy but it's only because her whole family to help her. Well that and her mother is a moron.

  • This is great they didnt mention adoption, You're right it's not the 1960's any longer, more and more are now wise to the tricks of prospective adoptive parents and there empty promises of openess. One should be extremely cautious when it comes to people wanting to adopt, Only true orphans and the abused need adoption thats it bottom line.

  • The irony of what Whoopi said is that we as adults were once children and teenagers (young adults). We know the stupid decisions we made at one point yet we fail to realize that children both our own and others are going to make these mistakes as well. The unfortunate thing is that children aren't always taught their options in life, whether it be abortion, adoption, raise it whatever, but it should be their choice and what they want to do.

  • Abortion does not hurt women. Illegalizing it hurts them. Maybe you've never heard about the fact that when it was illegal, many women died from having to do it themselves or get it done by someone who wasn't an actual licensed professional.

Not to mention that just the fact that making it illegal would be taking a right away from them hurts them. Every time a group of people has a right taken away from them, they are hurt.

  • Yeah, all of you people who are weird enough to actually HAVE your rape and incest babies, please stay down there in Texas.

  • True Texasgurl, and proud ur from texas too. We seem to just "get morals" down here! Thank God I was raised in Texas! I might not have my daughter if I grew up north of here. So glad we are still real here. (most of us)

  • Oh, I am bbsmu and Girls4ronpaul...two accounts. And the fact that she was a result of rape made NO difference at all in my decision. I loved her just as much, if not more, than I would if conceived thru concensual sex. She is the most lobing beautiful baby in the world, no joke. Everyone is captivated my her. Miracles do come true. Life is life, abortion hurts women, TRUST ME. Its biologically ingrained in a female to protect!! If I had gone thru with abortion, I would DIE now!
