After sensationalizing this story for days with only one side being reported, CNN finally allows the arresting officer to give the official account of why Gates was arrested. This is the first audio of Sgt Crowley on CNN, a full week after the arrest of a disorderly Gates was performed.
Typical of CNN, they aren't even starting with Sgt Crowley's testimony of the arrest details, but with his disappointment that the President Of The United States Of America would cast the Cambridge Police Department in such a light so as to make their job even that much harder.
CNN first focuses on disagreement and friction between the parties before trying to report calmly and even-handedly.

  • This description & title is misleading.

Sgt. James Crowley didn't even give his side of the story in this clip; all he pretty much said is that he won't apologize, and that he was disappointed by the President's comments.

  • That is the first audio from Sgt Crowley aired on CNN. I have put the subsequent audio/video of him in a serial form, labeling all of them in "parts" (pt 1, pt 2, etc).

There has been much footage to capture and upload on this case. You caught me in the middle of getting it all uploaded. Sorry it was confusing and mislabeled.

  • Racism is alive and well in America and it's coming from Obama, Gates, Rev. Wright, the racist Rev at the inaguration, and sotoymayor. No room for this. Let's have equality for all for real and drop the entire affirmative action BS.

  • It's sad to see racism going on like this, thanks a lot Gates. If I were a police officer and you started ranting illogically and projecting racism on me that's reverse racism, just like if it was a white guy being directly racist to a black officer. Who the Hell is Gates to project motives onto the officer? He left on a call in, nobody said "Oh yeah the owner of the home is black, so proceed with extra sensitivity."

  • This Obama is a racist leftist to make such comments without knowing the facts.

  • Crowley is a class act, all his black co-workers say so, the guy gave mouth to mouth to Reggie Lewis back in the 90's trying to save his life......it's a disgrace that his name was dragged through the mud by a clown like Skip Gates.

  • It wasn't his world. He was outside the house.

  • He did. Gates followed him.

  • He was arrested outside his home.

  • No, it's really not. Crowley was doing his job, and doing it properly. Gates was out of line.

  • The irony is that the only racism involed is from the black man who was arrested.

Just imagine what message this tells our children....

"Remember kids, as long as you're black, you can commit crimes and blame it on white police officers to get away with it"

What's worse, is that this black guy Gates is a respected Ivy League college professor!! What a role model!!!

Thanks for playing the RACE CARD!!!

GATES IS A RACIST and should be removed from his teaching position!!!!

  • Gates tried playing the race card. Obama is just as bad for the words he spewed. Keep up the good work, Mr. Crowley.

  • Its the professor's fault. His lawyer said he used strong language with the officer

He believed the hype and choose to believe phd's and a white neighborhood would protect him from passive agressive white supremacist hostility. He should have expected the behavior, stayed calm, kept his mouth shut and followed instructions to the letter. The whitesupremacist suspect female made sure and followed code and not mention color until she was asked, to not appear not whitesupremacist hostile.
