Hans Pfitzners "Das verlassene Mägdlein" as part of the recital "Poetische Metamorphosen", performed in Vienna's Bösendorfersaal, Oct. 2007. Compare it with Schumann's and Wolf's settings of the same poem!

  • Out of curiosity, which were the other two? I see, referencing 'the lied and art of song' page, that there are well over 20! It is very cool to perform various settings of the same poem as you have, highlighting the composer in the role of interpreter. Thank you once again for posting this exceptional recital.

  • two more of Keller's "Alte Weisen": "Wandl' ich in dem Morgentau" and "Tretet ein, hoher Krieger" both Wolf/Pfitzner

  • This is my favorite of the three settings of the Moricke, but they are all wonderful. Thank you for posting this great recital. I believe this is the first Pfitzner lied on youtube :)

  • thank you for your kind words - yes, I think I'm the youtube-pfitzner-pioneer ;-) 'bout time someone sang his marvellous songs - we did 5 in this recital and each is unique and inspired, no matter how famous other settings had been before his.
