The phenomenal Australian contralto Lauris Elms sings Arsace to Dame Joan's Queen Semiramide in this wonderful duet from Rossini's opera "Semiramide." Recorded live from Melbourne in August of 1965 as part of The Sutherland-Williamson International Grand Opera Company's tour. Richard Bonynge conducts.
The gap in the middle is due to editing -- I had to remove five minutes of ovations.
On Dame Joan's right is Lauris Elms. On her left, mezzo-soprano Rosina Raisbeck (also pictured as the Princess in "Suor Angelica" -- found on my channel). Many thanks to gweule for the photo!

  • Sped up a half step, but still very enjoyable. Elms had a lovely voice, though she wasn't as individual as Dame Joan.
