  • Hats off to Mr Steve Proctor

  • True, some mixes especially US mixes of the early 90s usually respected the track structure and the feel and vibe remained close to the original. However that was not the European/British tradition, indeed some tracks/songs were sonically very far removed from the original.

To state that this Heller/Farley mix is awful may well go against the opinion of many dance music lovers, and I believe you may well be very much in the minority.

  • jones1465, I respect your opinion, however I tend to disagree with you.

Remember this is a Heller/Farley mix, (who incidentally were not young remixers, but in their 30's at the time of this mix) and therefore has their signature sound - you know what style you get with them - The 'Boy's Own sound circa early 90's'.

Also, isn't the reason for a mix to be able to interpret the track in a new and original way?

  • @droopusmaximus ... Hi Bruce ..... I'm really good thank you .... It's a pleasure to be in touch with you ..... Can you find me on Facebook .... I'm Steven John Proctor. Respect and Big LOVE ! to you x

  • @MrSteveProctor Good decision Steve. Works for me! BTW, I was the DJ at NYC's Better Days from 80 -88...I think we met once or twice while I lived over there from 89 - 95. Hope you're well. /bruce

  • I was the creator and lyric writer of this track .... The vocalist is Rose Windross and I produced all the original recording sessions including the Vocals and Piano. I also did the original mixes. I turned down an offer of $5000 and a Shep Pettibone remix to go with Virgin. Farley and Heller weren't my choice as remixers but I have grown to really like this.

  • hearing this 4 the 1st time. only heard 2 minutes now. i like som farley/heller & fire island work, mostly remixes and in the style of "standard" house remix that so many made in the 90s until 95-97. like, upfront piano-driven remixes, radio friendly and often disliked and seen as "uninspired" and "formulatic". for example there was a fine farley/heller mix of louise "arms around the world". think those kind of remixes appealed 2 m bc they were very songs-focused, classic style:-)

  • too much mix and not enough of the original track. There is so much mixing that this could have been any song. Can tell this is a youngish mixer b/c a grown and sexy dj would have respected the underlying song. There are several of these "over-mixed" samples on YouTube. All are awful.
