Most copies of Introducing The Beatles on VJ Records are counterfeit. Here are some ways to spot a real one, and also ID a fake.

The legitimate copy shown in this video is the same one I played in my previous video "I Saw Her Standing There." It is Stereo, Version 2 (Please Please Me/Ask Me Why), with the list back.

  • The stereo version 1 with "Love Me Do" does exist, but is extremely rare. Expect to pay $3000-$10,000 for a nice NM example!

  • There are two versions, both available in mono and stereo. Version 1 has "Love Me Do/ PS I Love You." Version 2 has "PPM/ Ask Me Why." Most counterfeits are version 1, stereo jackets. Some of the counterfeits have version 1 jackets and version 2 discs. To further ad confusion, genuine VJ's have many different label variations and jacket backs (list, ad, and blank).

  • Good work! Very nice presentation.

  • Good gosh it makes me so mad. My mother HAD the "version 1" stereo copy back in '64. She went and bought the last two copies for her and her girlfriend. Around 1972 or so, all her records were stolen out of her Long Beach apartment and her "Introducing The Beatles" was one of them. I have an original now but it's a "version 2" with "Please Please Me." I don't mind the fact that it's a mono copy instead of a stereo, the mono sounds WAY better for the early Beatles.

  • I don't get it. If the bootleggers have the resources to make actual vinylrecords and sleeves - then WHY don't they just make them look like the real thing. The label not being the same kind of purple is one thing - but not writing "STEREO" og change the layout of the cover and label? What's the point? It almost seems like MORE work to me? Sorry, if these are stupid questions.

  • Thanks for the video. When I found this in my parent's collection I thought I might have something of value, but no it is most definitely a fake.

I just found the idea of counterfeiting vinyls interesting and that's one thing I like about vinyl (different covers, labels, etc.) that make collecting and researching things about vinyl interesting.

  • I bought this album when it was 1st released in the fall of '63.

  • I have an Introducing... The Beatles vinyl LP. I'm not sure if it's fake or real. Its definatley not missing the ink on the E or H, THE BEATLES is above the hole, and the tracks are wrong. Instead of Please Please Me its P.S. I love you and instead of ASK ME WHY it's Love Me do. Is it real?

  • My copy looks a lot like your real, legitimate copy, but it doesn't say stereo above the Vee-Jay Recording logo. "The Beatles" is above the hole and the purple band is bright like your real copy. Mine just doesn't say stereo.

  • dude for a couple of hundred bucks for the book.Dude I bought the box of vision and it has a big book in it with the origenal vinly covers and realese dates amd such for only 120 euro inc shipping and the box is wroth the buy

  • To visual clues. A true VeeJay LP;s cover is so clear you cxan actually see the time on Ringo watch. Also most of the rainbow fakes have a real big gap between the last track and the record label

  • Hi, does FAKE record has any machine etching on them like the original ? I think this may be THE most simplest easier way to spot if it is fake or not ?
