I love this little duet! I stays in your head ALL DAY!! It's amazing. But, Mozart was good at that. VERY GOOD. What a genius. Nobody else could write this WHILE THEY ARE DYING.

Too true! Genius!

Yeah, but that's what's being done to all the classics (the harpsichord *does* seem out of place in a modern corporate building, but oh well). Setting operas in contemporary times can be interesting. Some done this way are funny, others weird and/or awful, others rather decent or quite good. Sometimes it's just the way it's acted, which might or might not distract the ear away from the background music.

AGREED!!

it's so weird that it's modern peoples over a harpsacord....

And of course, Garanca's since gone on to make a hugely convincing Sesto. SUCH a convincing actress!

¡Me encanta este dúo! Garanca y Kasarova son dos grandes cantantes.
Thank you very much for uploading this scene! I especially like Elina Garanca. Could you maybe also upload her duets with Barbara Bonney? I wonder, if I should buy the DVD.

Believe me, you really should. :) There isn't a better performance of this opera. The whole cast is absolutely stellar.

What a contrast, ay? Two very different kinds of actresses. They work well together. :o)

Oh yeah, that's the thing that always attracts my attention in this scene. Garanca's serious and calm face in contrast to Kasarova's very expressive one. The same's with Sesto's & Annio's characters.
