In possibly the best comeback win in Oregon State men's basketball history, Ralph Miller's Beavers trailed by eight points with 38 seconds left in the game, but a late push led by freshman guard Gary Payton and a big shot by Bill Sherwood would give the Beavers their eighth straight win at Mac Court, 64-63.

Trailing by double digits for most of the night, Oregon State took its first lead of the game on Bill Sherwood's 3-pointer from the right corner with one second to play, and the Beavers held on for the win.
